I visited this site for a awhile and eventually realized that users knew each other. So I made an account in an attempt to become part of the community! Hi :)

Why does it have to be one or the other?

I hope not. Seems like a bad idea to get pregnant during a pandemic and recession and probably unemployment.

I feel like the "2017" shouldn't be there. Feels like one of them died or something.

I think they have 2 purposes. 1. To keep specialty doctors from spending time seeing people that do not actually need them. 2. So that insurance companies do not have to pay for more expensive doctors if not needed. Not all U.S. health insurance plans require getting referrals, it just depends on the plan you have. I do find it easier when I can just directly contact who I want though.

Not saying there aren't bad public schools, but I've worked in a bunch in different areas, and I don't think they are nearly as bad as people make them out to be. And it really depends on the individual teachers, so complaining about a school as a whole isn't always justifiable either.

My public school taught pretty much everything on hear except self defense. Anyone else sick of hearing about how bad schools are from people that just hate everything?

Please tell me you have multiple people living in your house. For me + hubby it's like 1 week per roll.

P.S. Not trying to completely shut you down @creativedragonbaby. I think some things could be fun - like sharing art or stuff we've created while stuck at home. Just don't want to see the site turn from fun content to "here's everything I've done today" and "here are selfies - give me attention" etc.

Also, I wouldn't exactly consider this a social media/networking site. I guess it can sort of be sometimes, but I think it's main purpose is to view fun/funny content - not to network and share our personal lives all the time. People can do that on FB or Instagram or whatever.

I actually understood both those things (not sure if that is good or not lol). And I didn't mean things that you pick up on from being here. I meant that people sometimes know each other outside of Funsubstance and will post stuff that is clearly about a joke or time that the rest of people don't understand or care about.

I understand what @norwegiangirl is saying. I have also been here for a long time, and I come to see fun content which has decreased a bit over time unfortunately. And I also appreciate the community, but I personally don't like seeing selfies and "inside" jokes from the users that know each other and such in the posts. I think that the chat and comment sections are good for that.

Maybe the difference is that a person/company can't own ALL the water or ALL the access points, but people should still be paid for services for the things that @tarotnathers13th said.

Ha, I think you misunderstood what I meant. Apparently communicating is not going that well today lol.
I totally get what you are saying - that it happened because they couldn't provide water, NOT just because they are poor. But that is actually what I am saying. When it says that you can't remove a child because of poverty, it means that you can't remove a child because the parents can't afford necessities. So refusing to give a child food and water = neglect = removal. But being too poor to provide food and water = poverty = help from other services.
At least this is how I've been trained and the experiences I've had. Perhaps it depends on the state?

They obviously feel strongly about this, but I think he is wrong about the taking away kids part. CPS reviews cases with abuse and neglect, and anyone who has gone through mandated reporter training should know that the poverty is NOT a reason to report someone/is not held against parents.

Sidenote: we do use the term non-verbal but only to describe things that can't communicate. For example, if we say a behavior is controlled by "nonverbal stimuli," we could be talking about an object, smell, sound, etc. (but NOT a person).

Sure! In ABA, verbal behavior is essentially any kind of communication such as speaking, using sign language, pointing or gesturing, etc. Therefore, saying that someone is non-verbal implies that they cannot communicate at all, which is highly unlikely. Instead, we would say that a person is non-vocal if they cannot speak. For example, I work with many clients who are non-vocal, but talk to me through sign language or an APP.

I thought they prosecuted on whether or not their was enough evidence, not whether or not it is "worth it." And technically isn't that someone else's job - to determine whether or not to prosecute. Cops just press charges?

I would think that the police do not have a choice. As stupid as it is, if the water is technically stolen, then they'd have an obligation to follow-up.
