I work with kids in both environments. I see the pros and cons of each, and don't necessarily think there is only one good answer or one size fits all. But I didn't like how negative this post was, and was pointing out the fallacy in the argument. While I have seen issues with the public school system and how some kids can fall through the cracks, I have also seen bad homeschooling and good things in the public education system. It goes both ways, there is no perfect system.

It's definitely a thing, especially in anything that has action these days. If you keep the volume up loud enough to hear the dialogue, then you will be deaf when the next explosion or whatnot happens. But if you keeps the volume at a bearable level for the action scenes, you can't hear any of the dialogue.
