The main character is 12 and she's very curious, she goes around abandoned places looking anf searching for things. She ends up having magical powers but I'm not sure how to like... Reveal it? How I should make her discover her powers? Any suggestions?

Having an odd feeling about a certain place that she investigates. She searches and finds a thing. A meaningless thing. She drops it, it breaks, the sound of it shattering startles her. Signs of her power flicker. She passes it off as nothing. Later, knocks a glass off the table. Powers flicker again, stronger. She begins to test how to use them.

Okay so like, I have a character who's Vietnamese, like her and her mother were both born and raised in america but she still has heavy ties with her heritage due to her family line having a very long and powerful magic history. So one question I have is what would she call her grandma? ( kind of like how Hispanic kids call their grandmas abuela instead of grandma), also, I was thinking of Nguyen as a surname since its apparently common? But maybe you know some better ones that would fit? Also, any Vietnamese urban legends or superstitions or myths that you think might be interesting? Or some popular holidays? I had some more questions but its late right now I forgot some of them XD

''Bà'' for short which means grandma
''Bà nội'' if it's mother of her father. You can also use ''nội''
''Bà ngoại'' if it's mother of her mother. Or use ''ngoại''
We are not allowed to call someone who is higher position than us by their names without addressing like ''chị'' for older women or ''anh'' for older guys
Vietnamese don't address people using family name
