Not all households apologise or say "excuse me" when bodily functions occur. Somebody raised without that trait won't even realize apologizing or excusing is a thing, which is why a lot of people don't say anything when they do it. Whether you should apologize over farting or not is an entirely subjective thing depending on where and how you grew up, so she may not even realize she's being impolite in your eyes (since, as comments here show, she's not being impolite in the eyes of some others. Me included). Invest in some of those Glade plug-ins or candles, or keep a small cup of vinegar out nearby. These work wonders for a lot of odors, and can freshen up the whole place.
