Why would I torture myself like that

In high school there were some people in my group of friends that I didn't like. I didn't really have a choice to hang out with them, unless I wanted to be alone all the time.

Family, you've just described family.

My ex and I share the same friend group. We barely talk anymore, and we're about to be in the same room for our school field trip.
And she's room captain.

As much as it sucks, sometimes you just have to deal with that until highschool ends. You can choose to try and cut them out if you want but I've been in your place before so I know how difficult it is when you have limited choices of friends, it's more like your "friends out of convenience" until you leave school, not everyone tho most of my close friends are from school. I would try talking to them about their behaviour, if you can't reach a compromise then end the friendship.

I’m actually in college and I try to avoid her but sometimes if I’ve been avoiding her for too long she will walk into my dorm and into my room. She will then force me to leave my room and come back to her house where sometimes I’ve stayed there days at a time. She doesn’t understand when people need a break. And on top of that she’s a horrible person so there’s really no redeeming qualities.

Yikes, she sounds a little creepy. With people like that I would suggest just a straight out, blunt as you can be statement that you do not want to be friends with her and find her qualities do not appeal to you. You say "force" but I'm hoping it's more like you don't want to make her feel bad but you shouldn't let yourself be guilt tripped, you don't want to be friends with her. That's that. Sometimes people just need to hear it to believe it instead of ignoring the obvious hints we give them.

I have three obsessive friends like that. All of them are narrowminded and cruel, but I am attached to them, unfortunately. Plus they are currently my only friends at school.
