I have asked four people to read it and give me their interpretations of the meaning, and each person has come up with something different. I wanted to see what ya'll get out of it :) Be forewarned I write what's on my mind, so It's certainly not cheery. Tell me what you think it's saying! Honestly it could mean a lot of things haha.

Also anyone got a favorite short story? :D

-Misery loves company. Projecting our internal demons upon those around us
-Loss of innocence
-Isolation. Feeling trapped. Surrounded, but not by anyone you feel is like you, and so, therefore, alone.
-an unwillingness to see beyond our own suffering, beyond our impressions of others, to see they might be just the same as us
Those are the first kind of themes that come to my mind
Also, you write beautifully
I'm having one of those moments where I'm like "I'm sure I've read some stories sometime... I mean, I must have... just need to remember their names....... Any name will do..."

Wimsy I'm glad to see you're posting! Hope you're doing alright :)

Really like this kind of stuff. I'm sorry if I come off as a grammar Nazi but there is something wrong with the phrase " I pry them open them" and I'm not sure what you are trying to say there. The story itself is amazing and much better than anything I can write. I'd like to see more!

As for favorite short story, I read it at school and I still think it's one of the best short stories I've read, and that is - the tell tale heart - by Edgar allan Poe.

I did enjoy some of the stories from "After: Nineteen stories of Apocalypse and Dystopia," which is a collection of short stories from various authors

@xvarnah your interpretation is so on point! That's almost exactly what I wrote it with in mind. Also thanks so much for the complement, and I totally get what you mean about the brain lapse. Sometimes someone asks me about my fav book/movie etc. And I'll forget something I've been in live with for forever haha.

@222daisy I'm not sure if I'm okay yet, but I am doing better. Thank you for being supportive :)

@kaiserwilhelm Thank you so much for pointing that out to me! I hate grammar mistakes (particularly when I make them) and I'm going to fix that now XD

I really enjoyed reading this short story, as it perfectly reflects what I was feeling only a few short weeks ago. Thank you for sharing, and I'm glad you're doing better.

@wimsyexpergefactor well I will admit in the first half I wasn't entirely certain what the theme was (not in a bad way), but by the end those really seemed to pop out and come together. Hopefully I didn't ruin other peoples' opportunities to guess though :s
It really was one of the better pieces of writing I've read in a long time. I had to double check because I was like "wait, did this person say THEY wrote this?" (not that there's not good authors on chatboards, usually it's just stuff not as polished on sites like these). It sounded almost like an excerpt from a book or such.
It's pretty much my brain constantly, unfortunately haha
"I've watched a movie/read a book/heard a song/done a thing before, I swear! Can't think of any right now... but they definitely happened" haha. People are just like "uh huh, okay then <.<"

Haha im really flattered! I've been told I write well by my siblings, but it's very encouraging to have others say that kind of stuff! The funny thing is, I hardly ever write, and when I make myself try it comes out really empty and not what I aimed for, (unless it's a school paper, then the blandness is expected XD) but once I get into a certain mood, the stuff I write really reflects my emotions dead on, and there's almost always meanings spun through it. I guess you could say my muse goes crazy. I think it's a motivation thing, but whatever it is im usually glad it happened afterwards.
