Has Gorillaz became too generic?

A few months back I discovered them. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEM. I watched their music videos. The progression of the story of the band, the albums, etc.
Then, I checked out The Now Now. While the quality of animation has significantly improved, I feel like the quality of music has gone down equally. They have lost their edge it seems.

Yeah i mean its unfortunate but i mean when i heard Clint Eastwood and Feel good Inc I was drawn in and was addicted man. They had some good songs after that but there new ones i just dont feel that want to listen to them or even finish the songs tbh. Even just the animation while of a higher grade just does not look as good to me.

Exactly, those songs are fucking great. But now...

I think it’s still okay. I think Demon Days was their sort of musical “golden age”, but I haven’t really noticed a /decline/ persay, just a recession back to the normal quality of their music (which is still great, mind you). The animation has DEFINITELY improved though!

I read that as "Godzilla" and was on an entierly different train of thought for a bit.

godzilla bomb af bro like i aint been part of them past ones unfortunately and even now they look weak af prolly cause movies have improved so much but from like the 2006 or 7 godzilla to this one nah bro this one was straight fire compared to that one.

I love tranz and humility, but I can agree that it lacks some music expression

I loved Humility, haven't really been feeling an urge to listen to any of their new stuff. I think it's still got that Gorillaz vibe but it's lost some of the roughness, I think that's just because they're trying out a new theme/style to go along with the story. I dig it but definitely not my fav stuff from them but artists evolve.

Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc are the only two songs I really listen to from them. Deltron 3030 I still listen... but mainstream? If anything 99% of their shit has been lost to time it seems.

and yeah. That Godzilla trailer was dope.

DARE, Andromeda, Ascension, and Kids With Guns are my favorites.
