It's not a requirement as far as I know, and most people won't use manual so they don't bother learning it.

Driver school only teaches traffic laws. Which side of the road to drive on, how to park, whose turn is it to go on a four way stop. All the cars are automatic. It's up to the parents to teach driving a manual.

Been that was since I took Drivers Education in the mid-90’s.

I just wanna point out.... every single person I've known besides my dad (who is literally a used-car salesman) has eventually wrecked their manual... and this is ESPECIALLY true with Civics. I don't know what it is that causes it... but I don't trust anyone driving a manual Civic. Maybe they push a little too hard in a tiny car that flips and breaks hilariously easy? I tell you I just don't know.
I wish owning a manual car here actually required lessons.

I drove manual for many years and never even had a fender bender. It’s true what you say about Civics. Especially hatchbacks. It like people who buy them think they are sports cars.

Nope depends if your home taught or with a school. I dont know how. And all our cars are automatic anyway

Over here you need to take your restricted in a manual if you want to drive manual. On your learners you can drive both a long as you have a full license holder in the front seat
