Don't get too frustrated by the difficulty. Dark Souls is a game where the world is fair, in that it follows rules that it teaches you and doesn't go back on, but sometimes it's cruel in how it does so. That fairness also applies to the enemies, in that you most definitely aren't Doomguy or B. J. Blazcowics. You're a guy with a sharp/heavy thing and maybe magic, and are thus only about as physically tough as a similar enemy, at least to start. Just play carefully and make use of backstabs, and you ought to be able to figure out the rest in your own time. I would recommend trying to figure out parrying, as it's super good in DS1.

I played it briefly on our 360, but the graphic quality was so bad I couldn't read half the instructions in the tutorial...
Much better on the Switch, at least. Just killed my first Demon in one go, which is a huge improvement over the dozen or so tries it took on the 360.
I ended up picking the Hunter class, and after changing the button order around a bit, I'm now sprinting instead of using all my Erstus Flasks when I need to run or dodge.
