I’m considering buying an electric bicycle to ride to work. I want a class 3 with between 30-70 mike range, and an “off-road” speed setting for when I’m on private property. I would rather not spend any more than required obviously- but for a toy like this I’m pretty set on the $1,000-2,500 range until o could figure out if I liked it. A front runner right now is the Juiced RipCurrentS. If anyone has any recommendations or experiences though- please feel free to share.

Yeah, after taking the label and lock off it works pretty good. Although for some reason people keep coming to my house questioning the whereabouts of a green bike. I knew they were trying to steal my newly found bike so I lead them on a wild goose chase with no end. Overall though this bike handles pretty good, it even comes with a picture of a lime on it!

Out of curiosity why not a pedal powered bike?

@scatmandingo- I’m old and lazy. Well.... ok. That’s part of it. Mostly though... story time.... I have a short commute that is flooded with traffic. About 15-20 miles but a half hour to an hour by car each way depending on traffic etc. so it’s been awhile since I owned a motorcycle- and I was comsodering buying another one. A friend suggested an ebike. At 20-28 mph near constant speeds, I could cut my commute down to about 30-45 minutes consistently. A bicycle is to me anyway- almost as fun (more in some ways less in others) than a motorcycle, and the cost of ownership is way cheaper and less red tape. Easier to park, store, and move, etc. the commute is short enough I could pedal bike. I’ve got a mountain bike that can do it but not as well as a road bike- and a good road bike costs about the same as an E bike anyway. Plus to get near those speeds on man power alone let alone hold them for 20 miles is not something I’m in shape for right now, and if I were I’d be drenched and...

... worn out by the time I got to work. So the ebike would allow me to still get some exercise if I felt like it- I can go 0 pedal assist or light assist based on mood and situation, but I could also go throttle only for when I’m tired, need to be fresh, or just am lazy or in a hurry. In traffic even lane splitting you’ll not ever go much faster than 20-30 on a motorcycle anyway, and your average speed is likely to be lower, especially if you value your life. So it seems like something I can ride to work and also play around with when the mood strikes. It would be great for running errands too for little quick trips that I do t need a car for. Those are my thoughts- or my friends thoughts who are convincing me to get an ebike instead of a motorcycle. Well... they wanted me to get an electric motorcycle but just likely because we all want to ride one but no one wants to pay what they cost right now. Lol. So ebike was the second suggestion. We had talked moped- but it didn’t make sense.
