As someone who aspires to be an author, I prefer to pay authors for all the time they put into their stories. My book may be unfinished, but I've still put 100s of hours into it.
But text books? Nah. Pirate the heck out of those

I always PDF to see if I like it. If I do I always end up buying it

I can totally understand that. I've bought books that I never finished because I ended up not liking them. I need to find a way to renew my library card...

I also aspire to be an author, but if I'm ever published I'm going to leak the pdf here and there. If people want to read me and give me money for it, great! But I'm already happy if they just read my stuff, and I'm thinking of people like me who read too much for their wallet. Anyways if I really like the book I always end up buying a copy.

I write on the side. Working on a big project. Gonna be a few years till it's ready. Not even going to publish it. It's going to be for me. Because I'm worth it

I might be jumping the gun here, but for the next book, can I recommend Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson? He has a free pdf version available on his website, too.

I use the kindle app on my phone to read. I have an old kindle, but my phone is easier to manage while I'm in bed

Just make sure you guys don't hurt your eyes! I once read the Harry Potter series on my phone for about a month straight and now my eye won't stop twitching
Fun

I have my kindle app set to night mode, and read with a blue light filter on at night.
My eyes are already bad enough that I'm legally blind if I'm not wearing corrective lenses, anyway. XD

I use twilight app as a bluelight filter and to turn the brightness lower automatically then use moon+ reader for the actual reading of the books

So... Did people make it through the first 5 chapters? Are we going to discuss?

I'm so sorry my finals and group projects are killing me right now, I'm getting like 10 min of free time and 3 hours of sleep every day. I can't participate this week. Maybe next saturday.
