I'm trying to not be biased but how can "Old Town Road" be considered country music? It's rap/trap with twang. Is that all that's required for music to be considered country today? (I listened to country music most of my life before i became a teen with most of it being between 70's-90's country because of my grandfather.)

It's only country cause it has the word horse in it. otherwise, it's just rap, like you said

I'd like to amend the above after listening to it a few times. As a song, it's not great. It's pretty short and repetitive, but the fact that they've combined the base and percussion of "rap" and combined it with the "twang" is pretty interesting, and I'd like to see the fusion done better in the future.

They have the twangy singing and certain cou try instrumentals. It sounded more of a parady, but when Billy Ray Cyrus joined THEN it became country. I didnt realize I would live it as much as I do
