It actually was all explained with alternate timelines. It's a bit heady but between the discussion between Bruce and The Ancient One, and then Stark mulling over it all, it actually makes sense.... or makes as much sense that is allowed, since time-travel into the past is inherently illogical.

@internet Loki is still dead because Thanos snapped his neck. Everyone who died by any means OTHER than the gauntlet are still dead. They cant come back.
The infinity stones can only fix what the infinity stones have wrought.
If you try to use them to fix anything else is abusing them

That timeline is altered, yes, but we dont know if that will help him survive Thanos or not
