Make them your buddy and walk. Each pokemon has a certain amount to walk before you get a candy.

You get candy from transferring Pokemon as well iirc, but if it's rare Pokemon I doubt that's much of an option

I don't know, but since this is a chat that at least involves pokemon and I didn't want to make a new one, imagine a movie like Detective Pikachu, but it's the Squirtle Squad and somehow all of them saying "squirtle" over and over again actually makes perfect sense... and there are zero human characters. I was reading this screenrant list suggesting a Squirtle Squad movie, and I was just thinking about the logistics of it. That would be a cinematic accomplishment. Shit, Groot made sense, most pokemon are personable, silent movies worked... why the fuck not?
