Well I guess that's what comes with the trending "the world revolves around me" mindset

Nah, it was always like that. Most people are insensitive about things they were taught to be insensitive about and use offended-mode to put others down. Very few actually think about what is offensive and why and alter their behaviour.

I think the main reason why it is so extreme is that you can’t see the other person’s face.
Insulting someone face to face shows their reaction, and it makes it personal.
Insulting someone from behind a screen is easy and relieves pent up emotions, but they don’t realise how that will affect others

I used to care a lot more about it when people said they were offended. Then I realized 90% of them are crying wolf.
.
They don't care about what they're complaining about on any real level. They don't want any actual solutions and won't be part of them. They just want to shriek and hear people agree with them.
.
They won't extend you the same courtesy (especially if they disagree with you), won't be satisfied by any solution you offer, and they'll exploit any act of kindness you show to them. Give an inch, lose a mile.
.
Most of the people I've seen that get offended over every little thing are often leading very unhappy lives and this is their way of putting themselves on pedestals. They get attention and blame someone else all in one go.
.
If you simplify most of the "I'm offendeds down" to "excuse me, how are you NOT caring about MY opinion?" It becomes a lot easier to disregard the stupider ones.

I’ve never understood why someone being offended is my problem. I’m not offended, I’m doing just fine.

I find you offensive for finding me offensive!
It's all a buncha bullshit.
