There is literally nothing wrong with asking any group of people if there are people within the group that are against bigotry. I was sincerely out to see if there were still people on this platform that disliked bigotry, and with good reason considering the state of this place

There are more and more bigoted jokes being made on this site everyday. Yesterday alone there were 2 jokes removed that I personally felt were overtly racist. I didn't report them, but clearly somebody did. And the moderators obviously agreed that they should be removed, likely because they too felt the jokes were racist.

I have seen homophobic jokes, anti-semitic jokes, and sexist jokes being made here more and more each day. It's simply rampant bigotry.
And after this thread I feel confident that rampant bigotry is just fine with FS crowd nowadays. To each their own, I guess.

@lihea you’re not entirely wrong, I’ve seen more and more shit that looks like it’s straight from 8chan or some other such sites, granted pretty sure they’re primarily bot posts. As for the people, well the people that frequent the site are all quite opinionated and I’ve witness a lot of ignorant bullshit spewed on FS. All that said I respect their right to share whatever dumb (sometimes hateful) opinions they might have as I hope they respect my right to share my meaningless thoughts just the same.

I'm truly glad to see not everyone on this site is OK with casual bigotry. I have seen, you included, 3 people like that so far.
Most people on this site that I have spoken to, or read opinions of, so far have defended either overt of subtle bigotry. This thread is a disaster and serves for nothing more but research on bigotry in 20+ years.

Are these “jokes” you are prattling on about posts or comments that users have written? Because if you are talking about posts I got a sad truth for you. FS is an unmoderated site that uses an automated process to gather popular content from other websites. You want to bitch about what’s getting posted you should talk to the owner and not throw it out on the community.

They were posts, & they were from users not bots. And even if the posts were automatically gathered from some other site (which I know wasn't true for at least 1, since the poster also commented & tagged ppl), the comments were racist AF.

The world is moving towards equality. So yes, bigotry will eventually see its way out. I already noticed that things I called out as bigotry 15 years ago are now considered outright discrimination. And 15 yrs ago when I would call ppl out for being bigoted they got angry and started demonizing me, unsurprisingly just like you lot.
I believe that just as what those ppl said 15 yrs ago is now considered overtly racist, what has been said here will also be considered overtly racist in the future. Yes, 100%.

It is simply about not generalizing, mocking or minimizing people and their experiences. It's really not that hard.

As an example, 15 yrs ago ppl in my home town felt fully comfortable referring to people of different skin colors and religion as "those people". And there was often open debates on how to handle "those people".
I called them out and simply said that there's no such thing as "those people" and that saying that reduces them from whole individuals to 1 generic stereotype. But I was considered taking it to far then.
I don't think anyone in an authoritative position could openly say something like that today without immediately being fired.

Ok so. a couple things ill point out before i dip out of this dumpster fire of a no man's land,
1. There's a lot of folk using the H word in this chat (hypocrite)
hypocrisy of your opponent isn't a valid argument against them. Just because someone is a hypocrite for making a given point doesn't make that point inherently incorrect, its one of the more common fallacies you'll see people use.
2. I vaguely remember someone saying something about bots and users and such, just to clarify on fubsubstance internal mechanics as we sorta have figured they work at least from the last "botpocolpyse" event. a user with few comments and many posts who hasn't posted a comment in a long time is generally to be a "bot." That doesn't mean its a fake account or that the account was created to be a bot account, it means the account was considered inactive and such funsubstance takes over the account to post popular images from other sites. Likes totals on posts (not comments) are also likely "simulated."
