I am so sorry ????

For a year we thought it was over. We took so many precautionary measures. However, the government is corrupt so they allowed some people in without going through quarantine.

Ouch, it's like the one kid that fucks up a school project... But it doesn't mean you'll be fucked, there are measures to be taken to protect y'all at an individual level.

@purplepumkin No, trust me we are fucked. Let me tell you something: A 20yo girl last year went to a hospital with a sore throat. They did not even do a covid test but sent her into quarantine with all the positive cases. She contracted the covid 19 there and died 3 days later in atrocious circumstances. Incompetence is the keyword to describe our govt. Our prime minister waited for his entire family to come back before closing our borders. Meanwhile, people were dying. Even the BBC, CNN and France24 covered the incompetence of this govt. They took advantage of last year's lockdown to steal billions of our funds. Since 2015, every week there has been a scandal. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Ok, it is awful. Your government seems to think they're protected from everything by power and wealth, which may be true to some extent. But as sad as it sounds, this girl's story is tragic but is it statistically significant? I mean, a lot of countries have had stories like this. How bad were the infection and death numbers last year? Would you be in concrete danger? Although I understand that Covid deaths are one cliff (without even mentioning long-lasting effects in non lethal cases), having money stolen to a life-threatening extent is another and you seem to be walking a thin line between them.

(for the record I'm not trying to belittle the grim absurdity of this girl's death, just trying to consider the situation as a whole)

I see what you're saying. However, this country has a population of only 1.2million. So, compared to other countries, you would think it should not be that tough to handle. Secondly, through a dodgy emergency procurement act, we acquired 50 ventilators for our hospitals. After the covid episode of last year, in parliament, the govt assured us that any future crisis will be dealt with thanks to these equipments and said they have tested them and were up to standard and specifications. In reality all 50 ventilators (acquired through a firm owned by a relative of the government) are deffective.
