Here are some older shows and movies I like ..
Warehouse 13 - A sci-fi series from 2009 that centers around two government agents keeping wierd artifacts out of the publics reach. Lots of fun characters and shenanigans.
If you haven't seen the movies Short Circuit 1 & 2 from 1986 & 1988 i highly recommend those. A robot comes alive and befriends some humans while trying to evade really incompetent military.

Primal is a cartoon by Genndy Tartakovsky, the same guy who helped make the old Star Wars Clone Wars Cartoon, and Samurai Jack. It's about a caveman living amongst stuff like dinosaurs, megafauna, and monsters. It's not exactly aimed at kids, with gore and such, but very cool to watch.
