Yeah, that's what I said above too. But the thing is, the notifications happen in the chats too but when I come on the chats, there is still nothing new. And mine are sorted by time too! :D

I'm just about starstruck to know that a God may be responding to a thread that I'm in. XD

I'm never thrilled when a God comments when asked. Not because it's common (it really isnt), but because in reality they're just humans behind a computer, just like us.
In the world of funsubstia though they are gods, so I still like to act like it's still a huge event

Not necessarily, but it sure is neat when they do

1. I believe it happens because the user deleted his/her comment.
2. Comments viewed via the notifications are always sorted by time.
3. [UPDATE] Comments no longer collapse when there are no new comments.
4. I find it suspicious and would like to investigate it further since many of you claim it to be a common occurrence. There are 2 possible scenarios I'm thinking about: a) someone is spamming. b) A lot of people regret their comments; or maybe they don't know about the edit button?
What kind of posts do they happen on? New, popular, old, etc... What's the frequency of it happening?
BTW unrelated question: do you guys ever purge your post subscription?

@zeus Define purge your post subscription. As in, check ALL of your notifications?

For me, I get large clusters of notifications (maybe 20 or 30) at least 4 will be what I'm calling "empty notifications".

For me, they tend to happen on newer posts and newer chats. It's not a big deal at all, though. It happens three or four times a day for me, maybe.
And no, I don't purge my post subscriptions.

I need to become rid of all notifications, or my eye begins to twitch. And yes, mostly newer posts.

I've also been getting out of order replies to comments.

I've had the same issue, it use to be rare but lately it has become much more frequent and on a variety of posts.

This is totally random but I love that out of the 2 admins, both named after gods, it's Zeus who answers the most :)
