I dispute this. I don't think the Creature would have taken his creator's surname. Wasn't exactly a lot of love between the two. Also, I believe it was important to keep him unnamed. I'm sure Shelley did that on purpose, to emphasise how Victor treated him like an animal.

As a teacher, I can say that I did this only once. But think of it from the teacher's point of view, you have a limited time to present a broad topic of information and some little brat keeps talking to his friend even though this information will definitely be on the test and then more people start talking and you're like STOP I'M TRYING TO GIVE YOU KNOWLEDGE.
