Well, it's mostly about the cliche-friendship stuff. I personally found the first season to be below average. The second season was really good from episode 4-11 but in the last episode, Kyoto Animation destroyed every single bit of character development they built up until this point (*cough* Sousuke) and that was really upsetting.
I personally say it got too much hype. The character design is OK (but nothing special). Do not expect a true sports anime (only 2nd half of 2nd season) and I personally was really annoyed by that whole "For the team" stuff (that was ridiculous).
