Some people create a building that lasts longer than their lives, so they really did "do" something longer than a lifespan.

The fact that you can see the beams mean some of the power leaked out of the twin reflections.
Since the mirrors are facing each other, the first laser shot would reflect off the mirror at an angle, and not at the other mirror.

When I was doing relief work, all the aid had to be "greased through" customs with bribes. Then, we had to bribe govt officials and local politicians to get the clothing/food/meds to the local distribution sites. Some food went bad because it took too long to get all that done.
Others I knew found that their aid supplies were seized by the govt, and distributed to the people they favored, not the people intended. So, the tribe in power makes sure a rival tribe doesn't get helped.

But it really isn't that easy to "solve." The western nations can hobble their economies by various laws that may not be effective, and then if China doesn't fix their emissions it won't be a drop in the bucket. In many Chinese cities, the smog is visible and looks like heavy fog. It won't help for the US, who has already reduced 99.5 % of emissions to get that last fraction of a percent if China won't do anything. And Africe...they still burn dung for heat and cooking.
Killer toddle prank makes grown ups run for their lives 6 comments
guest · 9 years ago
You come upon what appears to be murdered body and a creepy person with a knife. Then the creep, purposely dressed and made to look scary, makes a move at you with a knife. You react...how hilarious! One of these "pranks" is going to get someone punched or kicked...maybe even shot by someone legally carrying a gun. Did you see the kid make a move at that cop after hovering over the body? Afterwards, it'll seem like an overreaction, but the "pranksters" do everything possible to make the situation creepy.
Remember that guy in Florida that was killing and eating people on the street? He wasn't a zombie, but was behaving like a mentally disturbed person who thought he was. Should someone have assumed he was a prankster and become his next victim?

Also, people have a part of their brain that distinguishes between their own thoughts and what their ears perceive. I've wondered if those who have a badly developed *whatever the thing is that does this* are the ones who "hear voices" because they can't distinguish between thoughts we all have ("Punch that jerk in the mouth") and someone else telling them that.

When someone posts a hard to believe "It Actually Happened" story, it would be so nice to link some proof. I can imagine some company deciding it to be too expensive having to translate and check every dimension on every drawing of every subsystem. But, then you miss out on the fun of acting like all the US doesn't know how to do metric.

1. I've gotta believe that most wait staff have heard something like this, in which case they'd be justified in bringing the salad, and just considering it to be "Super."
2. If you understand the homophonic problem, you ask the second time "Would you like the salad or soup."

Every once in a while I see a coach try to not run up a score by putting in his second and even third string players and then calling running plays to use up the clock and avoid *excessive* scoring. But, because players get hurt when the half-@$$ it, they still play to the best of their ability, and still play better than the other team. There are always those who get butt hurt about that and don't see the distinction between that situation and a coach who keeps his starters in and plays all out.

In communist countries, everybody "owns"everything equally, and the government merely regulates the access to it. Of course, that means that less than 1% controls 100% of everything, but aside from that it's a workers' paradise.
