In my city, we have a shelter where they feed and house anyone, but they have to not drink or do drugs while there, which is too much for some to do.

This sounds like someone is afraid of not being exceptional after going years hearing that he or she (along with everyone else) is exceptional. If everyone gets an MVP trophy, the year they stop giving them to everybody is when the tantrums start that it's all so very hard.

4. I was selling concessions for a school team, and an "average" girl stayed after closing to help with the cleanup even though she was done with her obligated time. She's friendly and really nice. Maybe that's bad to think this way, but I can't help but notice that every time an animal shelter jumps through hoops to save an animal that's near death and then starts pleading for money because they don't have enough...you could have saved 100 otherwise slightly sick animals for the heroic surgery that saved one.
