Back home they say it's because they're dumb. Chickens will see A car coming and skedaddle away. Turkeys will just stay where they are and become roadkill. That's why turkey rearers don't let them range away from home.

Most times cramps are caused by a drop in electrolytes. Just mix a glass of sugar and salt (not sea water salty) and chug that down. You can also eat a banana if you have any but the salt & sugar solution (they call it ORT) does the trick.
