If you are gonna take a close up shot of your boobs that your face happens to be in, expect responses that reflect that. If it was me (as Sam), I woulda called out the dad for being a shitty parent

the organization gives out 3 full year scholarships (which you can apply to every year and keep getting) with little to no requirements on them (Its as little as help out the organization for 2-3 days a couple hours a day). And do you know how many applicants they got for them last year? FOUR. FOUR people for 3 full year scholarships. Only four people could get off their lazy butts and even apply for something worth thousands. This is a fairly common problem I've seen from talking with multiple other organizations that do scholarships

And 3) there are plenty of colleges that aren't that expensive. You don't have to go to Harvard or Yale or some other expensive private school, go to your local college, find something in state rather than out of state. Try something thats not the 1 or 2 "big" schools in your state since they'll be much cheaper. Unless your degree is from Harvard or MIT, and you are applying to a pretty high end hard to get to job, nobody is going to give a shit what school you went to, they are going to see you got a degree in whatever, and thats that. I know people that had families, kids, full time jobs, and they STILL went to college and paid for it as they went.
4) If you still can't afford it, apply for scholarships. There are thousands of thousands of scholarships out there, offering anything as much as $100 towards books, up to full ride scholarships. It all adds up. I know a local organization that gives out scholarships to the nearby university (contd)

Agreed. Minimum wage just means "I would literally pay you less if it weren't illegal" If you work anywhere for dam near any amount of time you no longer make minimum wage. If you do, its because your job is ridiculously easy and you are super replaceable. If you show any initiative at all, its pretty likely you'll get a raise and no longer be making the "minimum". As to the needing a college degree and being so in debt after graduating, 1) There are plenty of jobs that just require a high school diploma, are you likely to be a CEO making millions? No, unless you start your own company, but theres still plenty of room to go up and make a living. 2) Don't get a degree in stupid things. Why get a degree in it if you know it will barely help you get a job, the job won't ever pay for what you spent, you'll have wasted 4+ years not fully working (in which you could have been getting raises and working your way up). Doesnt make any sense.

Didn't see any guilt tripping by others, but to add another opinion, try talking to her about it. Explain what you are wanting with the money, explain what you feel comfortable giving her money for (food, electric bill, gas, or nothing, whatever its up to you) If she really "raised you and gave you everything she could" she would even be helping you save too, rather than using what you are trying to save (might sound harsh, but its the truth imo)

While your family may be that way, its certainly the exception, not the norm. Most people dislike talking about their lack of money, especially to their children. The expectation is that you'll take care of your children, not the other way around, THAT is why many find it embarrassing. Its awesome that you make more money than your parents and you are all open enough to talk about it though. I know many people that shut down the moment money starts being discussed

So, its somehow BAD when a kid finds love in rock music through guitar hero??? Lot of stuck up pretentious asshats imo. Who gives a shit whether they got it from their parents, friends, guitar hero, or whatever? What matters is the fact that they got into it. You aren't "better" than the kid that decided to like rock music because he played guitar hero. While I'm ranting, you also arent better than the kid that likes taylor swift or justin bieber. People like different things, have different opinions on what sounds better. It doesn't mean 1 person is right and 1 is wrong, they just have different opinions. @ all the "ugh I hate my generations music", its popular for a reason, BECAUSE A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE IT. If there weren't a ton of people that enjoyed it, it wouldn't be popular. Also, pretty much every decade of music there were a lot of people that hated it and thought the "classics" were so much better....huh, so much has changed eh?

except you would take all 10 guys and all 10 girls (20 people) and divide the 20 testicles/breasts into 20. AKA 20 testicles/20 people = 1 testicle/person. You wouldnt just avg the 10 and then avg the other 10, that ruins the purpose of an average.
But, technically everybody has 2 boobs, so the average is still 2, not 1.

So.....animal lover now = vegan? huh, never knew.
Also, to the "Were they harming the bikers? No." Um, lets see.....pretend you actually have friends, and lets pretend you all got together to have a little party at a park. You are having a good time, hanging out, and then a group of people show up, specifically to annoy and protest something you and your friends do. They brings lots of signs, megaphones to make lots of noise, and not only that, THEY THROW BALLOONS WITH RED DYE ON YOU. The protesters started the fight, the bikers weren't gonna take all those insults. Honestly I'd say they are lucky to be alive after pulling that kinda crap

Just wanted to start off by saying personally I'm completely pro choice. No stipulations such as "well only if its rape" or anything. If they want an abortion for any reason, I'm for giving them that choice. HOWEVER, I DO see the other side of it.
@fiesty "brain function defines life"....TO YOU. To others life is at conception, so even a morning after pill is thought of as a form of abortion.
@ the "If you dont like abortion, DONT HAVE ONE" argument, sure that solves the dilemma for the mother. What about the father? The family? What about the baby itself? foxfox just admitted he would rather be born and given to an orphanage struggling to even survive day to day rather than be aborted. Whos to determine that he shouldn't be given that chance just because the mother doesn't want it? There are more people (including the baby, whether its considered "alive" or not) that come into play which is why you can't just say "well dont have one" and call it good.

Honestly, you could say that any one of these things not only affects the user, but those around them and thats why the "well they aren't hurting anybody else, just leave them be" card won't play. cigarettes: second hand smoke. guns: gun shooting victims. etc. If every one of these was such a clear choice, there wouldn't be debate about them, there would be 1 "right" answer. And yet there isn't. Even between people that are on the same side, there are varying degrees of it. Some people are 100% pro abortion, some believe its only ok under very specific circumstances such as rape, some believe its ok if its rape or the child is going to have major issues or something else. All of these are technically "pro choice" yet all 3 cases think the other 2 aren't right

Just to add to the conversation about gun control. For every statistic you can bring up showing something about how gun control was good. Others can bring up another statistic showing how gun control was bad. If it was as clear cut as you think it is, it would have been instituted and done with and nobody would have issues with it. Another note about comparing the US to Australia is Australia never allowed just anybody to own a gun, it was fairly regulated even before they implemented all the "new" gun control. If only people that could already pass their initial tests could own guns to begin with, why would the new gun control laws even have an effect on murders or anything else. It should have just been taking guns away from law abiding citizens, and yet people bring up all these statistics about how it helped crime rates.

How customer service works 18 comments
guest · 11 years ago
Its also been proven that bad customer reviews make a HUGE impact on how other customers perceive the place, even if they have never shopped there. To make matters worse, its also been proven that customers are MUCH more likely to leave a bad review if things were bad than to leave a good review if things are good. Think its somewhere along the lines of 10:1. I mean think about it, when is the last time you went somewhere and had a decent time and thought "hm, I'm gonna go online and leave a good review about this place". Unless everything was just fantastically amazing and it blew your mind, its rare. However, even little things that are bad can make a person say "wow I can't believe they do this, I'm gonna go online and complain about it so others don't have to witness it too" That happens all the time, and THAT is why "the customer is always right"

The reason the boss probably got mad at you was because they have to deal with a lot of stupid employees too. Lot of the time it IS the employees fault. Thing is, if you yell at the employee, the customer is satisfied and leaves and you can find out later that the employee was actually right, everything goes on as normal. Yell at the customer instead, they are more offended and leave and yes don't shop there anymore so its "1 bad customer" as windscryer put it. However, they are gonna bitch about it to everybody they know. Depending on how bad it was and how bad they can make it out to be, its very likely they will pull other customers into the "I'm never shopping there again" pool and now all the sudden that 1 incident is 10 lost customers, or maybe even more. With as many options as customers have these days, 90% of the time they can easily go somewhere else so customer relations is a bigger and bigger concern.

pretty sure i ranted the last time somebody posted this, but there is a GIGANTIC difference between having a stupid customer and being a sarcastic rude douche to them, and having a stupid customer and doing what you can for them. Case 1: Customer does something stupid such as ask for ice at the bottom. Employee makes smart ass remark that offends the customer. They deserve to be fired, its their own fault for being douchey to the customer. Case 2: Customer wants specific brand of whatever kuzuri is talking about. Employee kindly lets customer know they don't carry that brand. Customer flips out and boss is called. Employee did fine there isnt much else to do.

I'm extremely pro gun, I own dozens of them, including ARs, have a concealed carry license that I use regularly, and I'm all for people knowing and understanding laws concerning guns. However, the gun owner in this video was just being a douche to be a douche. He knew exactly what was gonna happen or he wouldn't have video taped it and made such a big deal out of it. The cop was just doing his job. People called the police, it was his job to investigate it and see if whatever was happening was legal or not. The guy was obviously flaunting the fact that he had a gun on him wherever he was. Otherwise nobody would have called the police on him. I open carry and concealed carry regularly and not once have I had the police called on me. He was doing something to provoke a reaction before the cop ever showed up.....oh but wait, he didn't record that bit...hm, wonder why?

About daylight savings 25 comments
guest · 11 years ago
Thats not really something DST affects. Everybody is on standard time now (daylight time affects Mar-Nov) so even if we didnt use DST, you would be getting out of school when its dark. The difference is if we didnt use it at all, then for the past couple months you'd have been getting out as it gets dark instead of it just happening lately now that DST isnt in effect
About daylight savings 25 comments
guest · 11 years ago
DST isnt supposed to "make a blanket longer" as the pic puts it. Its meant to change WHEN the daylight hours are. Since jobs usually have a set time (ie working from 8-5) it doesnt take into account length of daylight throughout the year or when daylight actually is. If you didnt use DST, winter would be exactly how it is now. We aren't on DST from Nov-March so the time would be the same using DST or not using it. The difference is during the summer, daylight hours are when more people would actually use them. For instance, where I live on June 20th, without DST daylight would be from 4:30AM to 7:30PM. Most people arent even awake for 2-3 hours of daylight, and then ARE awake for 2-3 hours after sunset. However, WITH DST, daylight is 5:30 to 8:30. This shifts the daylight hours to where more people are awake DURING DAYLIGHT

When vegans get angry 14 comments

vegans are "just bullied and one big joke" on the internet, because of the stupid crap they pull. If you don't want to eat meat, fine. If you don't even want to eat honey or milk, whatever. BUT I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT YOU DO. Don't come in on a topic of bacon or steak or whatever and point out how your a vegan and its so much better and you care about animals and your not a vegetarian, your a vegan and you can't believe others can just be so heartless to kill animals just to eat them. Its the same dam thing with atheists. I don't give a shit whether you worship Jesus, Allah, Buddha, or nothing. Your opinion is your own, don't try to shove your beliefs (including a belief of no God) down my throat and try to act like your smarter and superior for being an atheist. THAT is why vegans are made fun of on the internet

The american school system 18 comments
guest · 11 years ago
Have to agree with some previous posts that this is dam near the opposite of the truth. Teachers don't have enough time to spend equally on everybody, so they spend most of it helping the kids that don't understand it. Then the "gifted" kids usually either sit around waiting for the rest to catch up, or are given extra work to keep them busy rather than accelerate through courses or be taught extra things. When I was in high school, the few "gifted" clubs we had were all pushed through by teachers working overtime wanting to bring more to those kids. Same with the most of the advanced classes we had
