True. “.....to be expended under the direction of the President of the United States, to aid in the colonization and settlement of such free persons of African descent now residing in said District, including those to be liberated by this act, as may desire to emigrate to the Republic of Haiti or Liberia, or such other country beyond the limits of the United States as the President may determine.” Basically means, You're free but go find somewhere else to live.

Everyone - the civil war was NOT about ending slavery. The south did not want to unionize because they wanted to continue governing themselves. Lincoln knew that the south could not sustain the war without the manpower of their slaves. Ending slavery was simply brilliant war strategy. That being said, Lincoln did not agree with slavery. But also did not believe blacks and whites could/should live together. He had someone in his administration to see if any a place, including any islands, could be found to send the newly freed black slaves to. Its a good idea to read his own words on these topics instead of what others teach/tell you..

Grandmagif if partially correct - bullying is a part of human nature but is found in other species as well. It's just nature! We DO need to stop raising kids who can't fend for themselves. My parents taught me never to make trouble, but to damn sure take care of business IF it's unavoidable.
