The reason why is because the actor that played pepper is mega vegan and protested the banquet tables during filming, the director got mad and just took away all the food, so nobody was able to eat while working on the film, so RDJ hid food. This is also why in (SPOILERS) Civil War pepper wasn't in there do to "relationship problems" with Tony. The truth is, nobody wants to work with her anymore.
