I know it's super nerdy, but Jabba didn't freeze Han Solo in carbonite, Darth Vader did, as an experiment to make sure that it would work on Luke. So that option isn't accurate, she looks nothing like Darth Vader.

You do know that Mike Pence doesn't believe in electroshock therapy for homosexuals, or even conversion therapy, right? Even Politifact has walked this back. The exact quote was made in 2000: "Congress should support the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."
Gavin Newsom, started interpreting that to mean that he was referring to conversion therapy, and the worst of it being electroshock therapy because hyperbole is the best way to denigrate an opponent, when he was really referring to programs supporting safe sex practices. He advocates abstinence first, but supports other programs as well.

On one hand, saying that anecdotal observations aren't valid with regards to discrimination and whether or not it occurs, isn't the opposite also true? If anecdotal evidence of a lack can't be used to find that instances are outliers, then anecdotal observations of discrimination also can't be used to prove that there is discrimination.
You can't discount one without discounting the other as well. So while there may be instances of discrimination, the original post also has very a valid point, demanding acceptance based on an identity is very different than getting respect as a person first and not being completely submerged by that identity.
