Fun fact; the A-10 can't fire its main gun for more than a few seconds because the recoil would slow the plane to a stall

Are you kidding me? Look at his face. Look at that grin. That is a man who has stared at the abyss and beyond and liked what he saw. That's the smile of a man who loves chaos for its own sake and has become it's herald into the awakening of a new age of science. ALWAYS do thd physics

Very true, but modern battle rifles are fairly idiot proof. Safety/select fire, charging handle, bolt release, may release... All you need to learn.

Many pistols have the barrel affixed to the frame. Makarovs, for example, like the pistol in the gif

The barrel is permanently affixed to the frame, and the spring slides over the barrel. You then set rhe slide atop the barrel, with the muzzle aligned with the port in the slide. From there, you have to rack the slide all the way back, like you're loading it, for the slide to lock back in place.
For this gif to happen, he would have to have failed to rack the slide all the way back. The spring would be under tension, but when he pulls the trigger nothing would hold the slide properly in place.

I get that he was avoiding the answer because it's a terrible thing to ask in the first place, but that is so fucking badass all the same

A list like this is never serious. My wife and I make ones like this all the time to add a little element of role-playing. It's all in good fun.

And Spartan armor consisted of a loincloth, helmet, and cloak, believing that a warrior needed little else. They were fierce, fearless, and ignored pain, but beyond the shield and helmet had absolutely no protection beyond their own skill

Romans trained and drilled for years to shift their shields so they can make short cuts and jabs at their adversaries, delivering devastating blows. A formation like that was nearly indestructible. They were probably the best

And you lose your literal nuclear option, which means that you'll lose MAD and increase the odds of large-scale wars happening. No one likes to admit it but they serve their purpose.

A hundred civvies ten years ago? Sure. A hundred civvies today? Not likely. They're excessively careful about collateral, and when it does happen it's crucified by lawmakers and media alike

I'm not blaming him. He did what was economically and tactically necessary. It was an unpredictable result, but there was information there that would've suggested it as a possible result, if unlikely. Afghanistan was in shambles when the Russians pulled out. They were a desperate people in need of leadership and economic aid. Bush 1 could have provided it as goodwill, garnered support in the region, and perhaps sped up the fall of communism and strengthened the Units State's international role.

Then the Russians invaded. then Reagan supported the Muj, which would've been fine, if Bush 1 didn't pull that support, allowing the more radical elements of the Muj to take control and form what is now the Taliban.
