I'm a wife. I would never ask my husband to give me his phone to go through it, it's his and it's personal. Same goes for my phone. He's never asked me and I would never demand it of him. We are partners and there has to be trust in a relationship. If he was going to cheat on me, going through is phone wouldn't change that.

I think it's ok for her to tell him that she has a boyfriend before he does anything for her and then expects something in return.
Pretty much every girl and woman can tell you a story about something like that happening and getting called bitch and worse for NOT saying that she was in a relationship. You then get accused of "leading them on" and trying to grift.
Just another example of how woman cannot win either way. It's always our fault somehow.
