As a high school girl I can personally confirm that this stuff is legit. I've literally sat down next to people as they take these kind of pictures. (not with me IN the picture of course). And I highly doubt that their parents care, if they're bold enough to post it online.
Oh, and it's very easy to find people's information online. :3 right now I could probably figure out your interests and hobbies by clicking on your username, and viewing pics you've posted. Based on that, I could develop a basic profile of you, search it, and find you on any other SM site. Or, I could look at a single image you've posted, and track the site it came from. Every site looks at the IP address that your device has. :3 so I could basically track your device with a little effort. After that, I can easily gain your email address, and tons of personal info.
This kid probably didn't do that though :P He probably knows the girls, and their parents. Or just said it to piss them off.
