A simple playlist is not an instrument. However, computers and software that allow one to mix tracks together, create your own effects, and do all the other cool stuff that DJs do is totally an instrument.

Gays are ruining the sanctity of marriage you say? 18 comments
guest · 9 years ago
More than one thing can ruin it. No one was saying gays and only exclusively gays were the only thing wrong with marriage. Seriously, I thought after the Supreme Court decision I would be free from these stupid arguments (particularly this one and its "why are you protesting gay marriage but not divorce" cousin), but no, people are STILL carrying on with this stuff.

I remember I had one that was like real life but if everything and everyone had been rewritten so I could have the perfect life. I was so disgusted with myself when I woke up I almost called my friends to apologize for how my subconscious overwrote their personalities to make them "perfect" instead of acting like normal. But at least now I know my conscience won't let me become an evil supervillain who thinks mind-controlling everyone is the solution.

No, I'm not denying that, I'm just getting irritated that when republicans are mentioned in the news, the writers make sure the readers know that they were republican. And the same thing happens to democrats but only in positive situations. I dunno, maybe it's just a bad run of articles that are outliers from normal news practices, but from what I'm seeing there appears to be a slant of associating republicans=crazy and democrats=champions.

There's a ton of pressure on the Marines (and the other branches, it's just that the Marines have been in the news about this the most) to lower requirements because barely any women are passing them. "The Obama administration" (I wish I had less nebulous words, but that's all I can find in articles) are pushing for a rule saying "If it's too hard for women, you need to explain why it's hard, and if we don't agree, we're going to make you lower it." But currently, you are correct, they have to complete the same tests.

Although the article didn't really need to specify that it was a republican. Are they assuming that we're assuming that all crazy people in the news are democrats unless otherwise specified?

Well, it fits with elves in a lot of other fantasy. A common trait I've found in elves among many different books is that they have very, very static societies/technologies/policies/etc.

Eh, as I understand it, it wasn't so much to prove how incapable they were of obeying him, it was more a "You asked Moses for some rules but couldn't handle just a few simple ones, so I'm going to give you a ton of rules to organize every little everyday thing." And it did build a new society for them. Better a ton of rules to prop up a people and then be taken away once they'd grown into a society than no rules and anarchy dissolving that people before they could become anything.
But yeah, the basic point is, a lot of that stuff (not the entire Old Testament, but at least the Law of Moses stuff) was fulfilled in Christ and was done away with. It's kinda funny that pork prompted this, because when showing how the gospel should be taught to Gentiles instead of kept within the Jews as it had always been, the usual symbolism was how certain meats, like pork, had once been called unclean but were now okay.

Eh, depends on how much you have to spend. I've made a fully functional wrist computer with the Raspberry Pi, and it only cost me around $120. And that's including a 32GB SD card (you only need 2GB, I just got a bit carried away), the keyboard, the monitor, the power pack, the material to hold it all together, and the little things like superglue and cardboard. A PipBoy has a more complicated case, but doesn't have a keyboard, so the price would probably be comparable.

What's he on about? Fossils turn up in the wrong strata all the time! Sure, it's usually attributed to geological shifts or other scientifically-explained phenomena, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. (Just that when it happens, it can almost always be explained.)
What he SHOULD say is "Evolution could be disproved if there was more evidence to refute it than support it. Evolution has passed this test with flying colours."

Tons of people. I went to high school in California, and being gay meant you were automatically a superstar. There were "Gay Appreciation Days" every month because someone on the leadership council was lesbian and no one dared oppose her for fear of being labeled "discriminatory." The "Senior Ditch Day" was changed to coincide with a Gay Pride parade and that was made the event instead of the traditional beach party. I had a former friend who changed his orientation (yes, some people are born gay, but you can also choose to be and your brain can eventually change) solely for the popularity boost. And in local news, if a team worked on a project or a bunch of people contributed to a newsworthy thing, if anyone was gay, they got all the focus. And it was in a "gay people are so much smarter/more athletic/artistic/etc. than other people!" way, not a "they overcame discrimination" way. I also had someone tell me to "just try being gay" and was then labeled a bigot when I refused.

I got in trouble once for playing anime themes on a piano at an anime convention. Apparently, the venue charges extra for a piano, and the convention had elected not to pay that because it's stupid. The location left the piano out anyway, though, and there were no signs, so how was I supposed to know? Luckily, the staffer only gave me a warning and then decided to guard the piano to dissuade others.

Novelization explains it, sorta. The two were so used to sparring during training that they instinctively blocked for what they assumed the other's attack would be, based on previous fights.

Eh...the "crush" part isn't exactly true. True, it's a common plot element in anime or manga for someone to have a crush on their senpai, but the word itself is more akin to "mentor" or "senior (as in, counterpart to junior, or veteran as opposed to rookie)."

Sound is produced by vibrations. Sound also causes vibrations. By videotaping objects and feeding them through a computer, they can look at the vibrations of the object caused by the sound, and then reverse-engineer the sound that made those vibrations.
It's pretty similar to a laser microphone. There's more research on that online because it's been around for a longer time, so just look up "laser microphone", and you'll get a pretty good idea of what's going on here.

Originally, "otaku" was more akin to "unhealthily obsessed person" than "fan." It's only recently that the word's started to become a badge of honor instead of an insult.
