i'm italian and study in english (usa) from pre school. i can flip from one language to another with no difficulty. also with french is the same thing

not to ruin your enthusiasm, but the water would inside the boat..... as for the cup, it was possible because not fully immersed inside. if you push it so the water is over the top of the cup there is no air left. which should be the same thing for the scene
