Maybe they weren't days on Earth. Why would God choose to measure in the time of a place that wasn't created yet?

This post was more like "this is what science has told us" people responding to this with "God made us" wasn't explaining their beliefs, it was saying that our beliefs were wrong.

It doesn't need to be a new religion. Christianity once believed that Earth was god's greatest creation and was therefore the center of the universe. That has been proved false, but that doesn't make the entirety of Christianity false. They say God created the world in six days, but who says it's days on Earth? Maybe it's six days in Heaven. *shrug* So who says that God didn't create man by influencing evolution?

Actually it's more like saying "I'm out of food, so I'm going to invest in a very expensive surgery to make myself able to photosynthesize." Sure, you'll never have that problem again, but if you have the money to buy a mac, you definitely have the money to buy some more time for your anti-virus software >:

@Tara. Neutrons aren't negative, they're neutral. Electrons are negative, and there are lots of girls, that doesn't need to be pointed out just to make a (bad) science pun.

Keep your kids behaving on long car trips 16 comments
guest · 10 years ago
Plus, reward-based systems are much more effective than punishment-based ones. Why would you punish your children for acting poorly when it doesn't work well and teaches nothing about respect? Respect is something you teach that has nothing to do with how you get your kids to behave, unless they already respect you enough to just do as you say.

I read through all of those comments before I realized you were talking about the girl, not that cat xD I thought you were complaining that the poor cat was hot (like temperature) and I'm like how can you tell by the animal's legs? And why did you decide the cat was female.

Spoiled kids these days 11 comments
guest · 10 years ago
There's actually a scientific reason for this, it's not just kids being spoiled. It's because the more of those things you have, the more value you put in material objects and the less time you spend with other people, which makes you happy (one of the number one things to do to help depression, aside from getting medical help, is to become involved in your school and community). Also, the more choices you have, the less happy you are because you'll always wonder if you picked the right one (that's why people get midlife crisises).

Scientific experiments 30 comments

I'm pretty sure we aren't saying "hey just go ahead and pull somebody off the streets and test them". If it's so cruel to people, why is it okay to do to animals? Yes, people and animals aren't the same, but in my opinion it's our job to take care of things that aren't as advanced as us. Just like it's adults jobs to take care of kids. Animals would understand even less of what was going on than a child would... I mean, I hope for a time when we can test this on lab-grown cells, but hey. I'm just an idealistic teenage girl. That will probably never happen, since lab-grown cells can't scream.

And testing it on prisoners would be more beneficial to other people anyway. Things always happen differently to people than to other species... That's why medication has a human trial phase before it can be approved!
Tall people are the worst 36 comments

I think it depends on which teenager you talk to. Some of the teenagers I know are the most caring people I've ever met. Some of them are mean, but I've never met a teenager as cruel as some of the adults I know. For the most part, even if they aren't nice, I think this generation's teenagers are more open minded about things, which is part of being understanding and having a big heart. Pretty much everyone in my high school knows I'm a lesbian and no one has ever said a bad thing about it, but when I told the adults in my own FAMILY, I was told to get help because I had a sickness. I live in a very religious area, and my high school in particular over 70% of the kids are some kind of Christian, at least half are the same religion as my family... It's just an example, but in my opinion, even this generation's teenagers have bigger hearts than most adults.

Yes, forget about the fact that it might scar the poor girl for life, traumatize her, and who knows what else. So long as society says it's okay.

Maybe because seven year olds would rather get into things they're not allowed to get into? They aren't stupid? If you talk to them and tell them "hey, these aren't yours, your sister needs them and they could make you sick because you're small" they'll listen? One-year-olds put everything in their mouth, not seven-year-olds.

It doesn't matter if you're going to hear God himself sing, you should be considerate of other people in a wheelchair or not. >/ I mean, obviously there are things you have to do differently, but if someone were to shove even a fit twenty-something man out of the way, they need to learn manners, no matter what they do or like or listen to.
I really hate how inconsiderate people are, and part of that is this extreme, but even people who find that unbelievable might still be inconsiderate of others just because they aren't handicapped...

Uh, chances are a lot of bullying won't actually hurt people. That doesn't mean it isn't bullying. Bullying isn't just bullying if they kill themselves or develop depression. It's bullying no matter what, and you NEVER know how it will effect someone. Yes, some people are able to handle more than others. The fact is, somewhere out there there is a man who could take a bullet and just keep walking (depending on where it was). But I bet none of you could.

I agree, but sometimes they don't feel like they can. They reach out online, possibly in the hope that someone will get them a counselor.

You don't know anyone else's lives. The kids in the Holocaust probably would love to be in her position, but that doesn't mean she has a fucking picnic. And who cares if it's just someone bitching? They could have an actual problem, and they complain about something that isn't important because they don't feel like they can share what the real problem is. For years, my grandfather sexually abused me, but every day I would complain about how my friends didn't answer my texts or how I lost my phone or got grounded. Because even though my grandpa did horrible, horrible things that sometimes made me want to end my life, I still felt I owed him something, because he was family. I finally told, but only because I realized that he was doing the same thing to my little sister. Even now, most of my friends don't know. I was severely depressed, and if people would have treated me like that, rather than giving me the SUPPORT I needed, I wouldn't have made it.

Honestly, to me it doesn't even matter when the baby is a human, I would rather have a woman get an abortion than add one more unwanted kid to the world. I mean, yeah, it could be adopted.... but then all the other kids waiting to be adopted, one of them won't be adopted because the mother who didn't even want to give birth to this kid was forced by someone who had no business interfering anyway.

It's actually pretty safe to assume it would be a question, because otherwise why is someone saying that wtf is an acronym? Just because people don't always use punctuation doesn't mean everything is a statement.
Dreams = Parallel Universe 40 comments

There is a parallel universe where shop-cos are filled with water and large cliffs which have the train from Spyro the dragon on them, and if you kill a horse all robbers within the room will drop dead as well. Also, instead of shopping carts, you get a small sailboat.
