its also dipping down into the cup which reduces the "extra" and depending on how you fill it, theres likely to be either some air around the edge of the lid if you put it on first and fill, or a huge mess from pushing the lid down into slurpee. Plus its MUCH more likely to spill.

She's only dated like 8 guys. If she started dating at around 15 or 16 (no idea when she did just a guess) thats ONE GUY per year. Does that REALLY sound like too many people to be dating? I've seen girls date that many people in a single year and nobody bats an eye about it.
