If any aspect of Phineas and Ferb ruins your childhood, you are still a child. That show is only like five years old.

So what you're saying is that if someone is unfairly characterized by a broad stereotype, you wish they'd just keep their mouth shut about it. Got it.

I actually run my class based on this exact philosophy. The problem is that students, historically, are terrible at assessing their ability to do well while not attending classes. In a decade of teaching, I've had exactly one student who didn't attend but still turned in excellent work. Everyone else who doesn't attend does very poorly.

Sigh, plenty of schools outside the US charge a fee. Plenty of schools in the US don't charge a fee. Schools charge a fee to cut down on the number of bullshit applications. If it doesn't cost anything, lots of people with no actual interest will apply just to be safe and it throws off all your acceptance ratios. If your school doesn't charge a fee, it means they aren't getting overwhelmed by applications.
I'm amazed by how often I see someone from outside the US on here making wildly ignorant assumptions about the US (and their own country) based on a single post on Tumblr. And yet we're supposed to be the dumb ones.

Right, cause no one here wore Led Zepplin, Greatful Dead or Pink Floyd without knowing anything about them in high school...

The Myth Of Muscles From Hugh Jackman... 7 comments

Yeah except no one is making that argument. The argument is that the female characters give women an unrealistic expectation of what their bodies should look like (true enough) and the men in comics do the same thing for boys who become obsessed with building muscle mass.
I mean your premise is that "Women in comics are drawn to be attractive to men." What exactly is wrong with that absent the subsequent body issues?

Okay this post I'd from bizarro land. If a guy is walking around with half his dick hanging out, it would definitely cause a problem. I don't get this at all.

Not judging or taking a side here, but the basis of this argument really doesn't hold up. Bodily integrity is not an immutable law (or a law at all in the US) and whether it's unethical is a matter of opinion and certainly not one you'd find a general consensus on. There are plenty of people who believe that organ donation should be mandatory. In fact, I bodily integrity is a relatively modern concept. Any medical school that existed in the early 1900's regularly bought corpses to use to further medical science with the rationale that is was part of the greater good. Just FYI.

The one on the left is made out of garbage and tastes horrible, the one on the right is made of high-quality materials and tastes quite a bit better, but the internet will go on and on about the price (which actually isn't nearly that much) and tell you the only difference is the logo. So yeah, this is pretty much accurate.

America... 25 comments

The best part is that the UK guy just did exactly what he's saying the American did by assuming everyone does it just because that's the way that the UK and Canada (a former British colony) does it. Plenty of other places pronounce it as Zee. The US dialect of English is a hodge podge of a half-dozen European languages.
