It’s not repetition, it’s reinforcing. Learning a language is the best example. You need to refresh the information in your mind to retain it.
The point of homework is not to learn new things, but to revise on your own. Once again, teachers do not have enough hours in the day/semester to effectively teach.
I will say that American curriculums suck ass tho. And that’s not the teachers’ fault

What an interestingly brain dead take
Not everything can be taught in a classroom. Teachers are overworked enough as it is.
Assigning work to be done outside of school not only allows for self-guided revision, but also reinforcing what was learnt that day/week hours/days later.
