I didn't say "men might kill their kids." I said that people MALE AND FEMALE who are in a place where suicide is a valid answer for them may be at a higher risk of taking the kids with them. And again...nobody is going to wake up and say "I'm going to kill myself because I can't see my kids" if they are emotionally stable. Those ones that do are not doing it STRICTLY because they can't see their kids. Know why? IF YOU COMMIT SUICIDE YOU SCAR YOUR CHILDREN AND THEY NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN. You are NOT rationally realizing this if you are considering suicide, if you're considering suicide you are in a VERY dark place. You're thinking about YOU, about YOUR pain. A judgement against you may be a trigger, but it isn't an underlying reason or cause. This ad takes men and says "males are 2 dimensional, stupid, and not complex. Divorce courts hurt their feelings and they kill themselves, case closed."

I don't think you know very much about suicide if you think so. Mentally healthy people don't commit suicide, they cobtinue fighting for custody and if they lose then they wait for their kids to hit 18 and try to mend bridges. If you wake up one morning and see literally no bright spots in your life and decide to kill yourself then custody may be a contributing trigger but it is NOT the reason. And if somebody has no bright spots in their life, you don't want to trust them with children. Men and women both commit murder suicide on their kids because they're in a dark place where suicide is any kind of answer.

Okay, first of all, no. And you are doing a tremendous disservice to men who need helpwith this bullshit. This is an adult version of 13 Reasons Why, and fuck this shit. Men commit suicide because they have underlying depression or issues and CAN'T GET HELP. Do you know why? Because some asshole looks at them and goes "You know what's wrong with Frank? No, not depression. Pfft, depression is for weak people. No, it's that damn family court system, stopping Frank from feeling like a real man and doing his manly duties." Fuck that. Frank doesn't need custody or visitation if he's at this point, you know what Frank needs? Support and intervention. Frank needs people to help him get get to a point where he's okay again and won't hang himself while his kids are in the house, not fucktards saying "know what suicides are good for? Marketing."

It may also just have important documents that need to be grabbed in case of fire/flood/evacuation. The safe itself may be water and/or fireproof in case it's not safe to go and grab on the way out.

@garlog Um, I think wives are literally listed next to things like livestock in biblical references to property, which is pretty far back to reference. In some cultures in history, they've been traded for and sold. I think you completely missed or intentionally ignored my point to pick a fight though. What I said was that you don't see modern, non-property women demanding reparations for what some of their ancestors went through, because asking for reparations for something you didn't experience from somebody who didn't do it just because trying to change your country through legislation is hard is really stupid.

Sure. But they have to get in line behind women, who were treated as property for far longer throughout human history, but once that happens they can definitely have a turn. Oh, wait, sane women aren't asking for reparations because they know it's fucking stupid.

I think in real life that doesn't really work though. If people don't like you, or didn't care if they hurt you while you were alive, there's a pretty good chance they'll either ignore whatever tape you left them or roll their eyes at it and say it was pathetic. The show was pretty much just a revenge suicide fantasy. Plus, it's kind of sick to blame other people for a person's suicide instead of exploring the emotional problems/mental illness that ultimately caused it. Nobody is reaponsible for another's mental health.

@miss_blue Engineering is a science. If he's got a Bachelor of Sciences and a working knowledge of his field, he's a scientist.

I think people just become more handsome the more you get to like their personality. So his fans probably do find him very attractive, even if he's not conventionally so.

Well, if you have a science degree and you have a working knowledge of a science, that's really qualifications for being called a scientist. I don't think you can be more or less qualified to call yourself scientist, just more or less qualified in a particular field. So, they're both scientists.

I think that's like @heyheyyouyou said above, that's a case of somebody being offended. Offended isn't really the same as being hurt, offense is more getting angry about something, being hurt is actually being emotionally hurt.

Art if the artist had permission, crime if not. Graffiti can be very pretty, doesn't mean it's allowed.

It's called feminism because that's the name of that part of the movement that started in the women's corner. "Feminism" is not the movement. "Equality" is the movement. Feminism is the part that deals with inequality in the women's corner, like "Pride" is the LBQT part of the movement and Civil Rights (now also BLM) was/is the name of the part for minority inequality. The reason it's called Feminism and not Equalism is that it's main focus is removing the stigma of feminity. It's not "all men and women are equal," it's "a woman is not inherently worth less/undeserving of equal opportunity strictly because she is a woman" and "a man is not flawed/worthy of scorn because he has traditionally feminine traits/interests/issues." Many problems men have stem from this stigma of feminity. They have a harder time expressing emotion without ridicule, often leading more commonly to suicide; they're mocked for requesting paternal leave; they're met with disbelief when they report rape.

I don't think a court is going to press an adultery charge. Adultery laws mainly affect people in family court, it'd kick her ass in the divorce, sure, but that's about it. And let's not forget that OP stands to gain from the video, which means if they're tracked down a good lawyer for this woman will try to spin it under a revenge porn law, then fight an adultery case by claiming it's an outdated religious law and threatens secular bodily autonomy. In the end, any business would drop OP like a sack of bricks if it looked like she might bring charges, and if it's a government job then he/she is definitely not allowed to be filming in the offices and is still losing his/her job. Oh, and then there's the multiple male and several female politicians who have cheated and not been prosecuted, the ACLU would be all over it if this woman had a government job and was charged. The proper way to go about this would have been OP reporting what he saw to his/her boss's boss and avoid backlash.

Most workplaces aren't considered public, and on top of that a lot of businesses have their own policies about recording/cameras on premises. Adultery isn't illegal, so "I just wanted to show her husband" won't save you if your business finds out and decides to axe you just to avoid a lawsuit from the person you filmed, even if that lawsuit won't go anywhere. Recording a fellow employee, even one breaking the rules, without permission can get you in serious shit with your job.

Yeah, be careful. Taking pictures involving nudity and sending them to ANYONE, including a husband, without the person's consent can get you in deep shit if they track you down. You're not always as anonymous as you may think.

Okay, simple: if you've been to a mental health professional and have been diagnosed, you have an actual clinical phobia. If you've self-diagnosed, you MAY have a phobia, but it's not definite. Phobias are documented disorders/conditions in the psychological field, with a pretty clear definition and an outline in many cases for treatment. A phobia is curable. It's like saying you have a small tumor because you get horrible migraines...you definitely might, but until you've seen a doctor you aren't diagnosed and certainly can't treat for a tumor.

Hot wheels or a barbie toy? 24 comments

@diyrogue I've seen this image multiple times in multiple places, but I've never seen more than this bit. So we're judging this image based on the context in the image, in which case it's a pretty simple fact that the customer was asked "Do you want Hot Wheels or Barbie?" regardless of anything else. And going by just this bit, if you're asked by a worker "Hot Wheels or Barbie" you're only being given two choices: Hot Wheels or Barbie. If you're so very certain that you want a "boy toy" then you already have an idea of what it is you want, so open your mouth and say "I want a Hot Wheels, please."

The worker was probably required by store policy to have the customer explicitly choose whether they wanted Hot Wheels or Barbie. While the worker was likely bound by policy, the dipshit in line could easily have said "Hot Wheels please."

Just thinking about Turkey 14 comments

Turkey doesn't have the same checks and balances working. Nothing is stopping Erdogen from making so many changes. Another difference is that changes to the Turkish constitution can be done by referendum, allowing a single public vote to make changes and screw the other branches depending on current public sentiment. Changes to the US constitution that would fundamentally change our checks and balances system need ratification by a certain number of states, not people, specifically to avoid a fearful populace taking a vote in a fervor and fucking up.
