also i just noticed you used that word searched again, which there is a difference between looking around and searching and i bet theres legalities to even that if you walk into an unlocked building, between going through things and just being there which again the police can get you for things in plain sight and tis not searching

well other than the silly example which is clothing not property, a house is exactly how i understood it, if someone walks into your unlocked home they are not committing a crime. notice how its "breaking and entering" and not just "entering" and if a store is unlocked how can be illegal to go in? i mean most do not even turn lights out for safety reasons, so if lights are on and you go in and don't know its off hours do you really think you should be arrested? i am sure the legality gets sticky with things like do not enter and no trespassing signs, but i am pretty sure you can open unlocked things

i think theres a difference between unlawful entering and unlawful search, in plain sight is not a search and always lawful, and i have always been put under the impression that if something is not locked it is not illegal to enter
