Nazis were bad. The holocaust happened and should never be allowed to happen again. Stealing land from native Americans was something our ancestors did and we were smarter and kinder now, so while we couldn't move back off their land and give it back, we could atleast not steal more and generally be better and nicer to them.
And yes, these were things I was taught as a lad by earnest adults.
