I have used my superior intellect to gather so many resources I use more than I need. I must expend more energy than I consume in calories in order to attract a mate.

Pedestrian crossing in Pompei, AD 79 9 comments

No, it was a little detail to add depth to the world. The story was about Cleopatra visiting Rome, and in this one little scene she's disgusted by how filthy the streets are, and how someone empties a chamber pot out of the window.

I remember reading a historical fiction novel once where people put stepping stones in the street of Rome to avoid walking through all the gross stuff, but if the author didn't do their research then I could be wrong.

Ancient streets were filled with human and animal poop and other refuse people threw into the streets. This is probably why the crossing is elevated.

Frank Frazetta's right arm become paralyzed after a stroke and no one thought he could paint again. But he wasn't satisfied with one of his old paintings called Masai Warrior, so he painted over the face so he could fix it. His wife was like "what are you doing? You ruined it!" And he was like, "just go to bed, I got this." And when she came downstairs the next day he had gotten the face just right, using only his left hand.

I guess you could just start walking in a random direction and see where you end up. That takes courage. And no money. I mean, you might die of starvation or exhaustion, but I guess that's where the courage comes in.

If it was a high five emoji, the thumb and pinky would be visible. Because two pinkies are showing, it is safe to assume it is a left and right hand of the same person, praying.

The big wigs at Monsanto are millionaires, and the tobacco farmers and alcohol distillers are poor. It all depends where you are on the corporate ladder.
