A minimum wage is exactly that, a minimum. The minimum for one person to support themselves. Not for you to raise a family off of, and not for you to be able to by a new T.V. and/or iPhone each year. Frankly if you are still the bus boy at your local fast food place at age thirty with four kids than you messed up. And it is not society's responsibility to pull you out of the hole you dug for yourself.

Guess what, they were all the kind of person who sits in the back of the room, never turns in any homework, spends the entire class texting or talking to their friends, and never puts any kind of effort into the class.
