Many people were actually in support of the buyback (gun-owners as well as non-owners) but there were definitely a vocal minority screeching about their rights (despite the fact that we don't have a right to bear arms).

Whilst we did have a gun buyback scheme after the events of March 15th, it was more effective. In my opinion it was too reactionary which is one of my biggest critiques of Ardern .

I think we should agree to make it far more lenient this year, the people have suffered enough.

I think my country handled it pretty well, there was a video detailing why the NZ response worked so effectively but I can't find it atm. It had something to do with having out Minister of Health (The absolute champ Dr. Ashley Bloomfield) take charge and handle 90-95% of the covid press stuff.
