That is an outdated and incorrect statistic.

Just because it doesn't always happen doesn't mean the line should be removed. That's the promise you make when you get married. If not, don't get married. No one is forcing you to.

I think it works because if you are getting divorced then your marriage is dead.

...not enforced... removed if you do anything, people should always have a choice
