That's what it would look like if it were closer, not brighter. The Andromeda galaxy looks like a lot of other stars to us on Earth. If it were closer, it would look bigger like that.
Its visible if you know where to look. It's a bit brighter than most stars, but not nearly that big. It's supposed to look that big in a couple thousand years because the Milky Way and Andromeda are slowly coming closer to each other.
