Killing small animals and being your true self is two totally different things. This kid is going out there and becoming someone that you'll never be, brave and strong. This kid obviously has a mindset and it isn't hurting anyone is it? He is doing the right thing by trusting himself with his choices in life. He can be whoever he wants to be just like how you choose to write that comment, there isn't much difference between you and this kid except for the fact that he isn't bullshitting people for who they are. So he is better.
No. A good dad is a dad who supports you no matter what it is you want to do in life. He can't prepare you for the world. He can only help you deal with any problems you come across. In preparing you for the world, he is crippling you. He is not letting you be yourself. A good dad will support whoever you choose to be.
I kinda agree with guest on this one. Kids don't know any better and should be given that big decisionwhen they have concent. I sure wish my parents had shaped me a little more on the clothing they allowed me to wear. Although I did not weara dressing did wear embarrassingly large ghetto clothing.
What you call "comfortable and clichéd" I call "realistic, efficient, and totally reasonable."
That's not "equality" either -- it's dehumanization. Not to mention setting the kid up for some major disappointments in his future (like the day the kid realizes that he actually can't control reality).

sorry, I can't hear you over all the stupid. Speak up!
Come on, McD. Mike is just being realistic. Besides, gender roles =/= stereotypical gender attire.
In my opinion, this smacks of trying too hard to be an "enlightened" parent. In fact, there's an argument to be made that gender roles don't exist anymore. Perhaps Daddy was born after his time.
It actually made me laugh (not just breathe harder out of my nose) that this stupid joke hit so many nerves.
LOL Really??? That was downvoted?
