He's bailed out, but he can't leave the city he's in. If he does and they find out, he'll be arrested and kept in custody throughout prosecution process.

Yeah I guess he made a deal with the judge. From what I found, he was only required to stay for 24 hours. Dunno why. But he'll still be responsible for showing up to any future court appearances. And if he doesn't, he'll be charged with contempt of court.
