I've been upset all night because we got bad news about my elderly dog today and might have to put her down soon. We've only had her for about 4 years, but if we hadn't taken her home, she would've ended up in the pound. She's always been such a happy and loving dog and it's tearing me apart to know she may be gone soon.

The fact that the dog had a loving home, for however long, makes all the difference in the world. When I had to put down my 10 year old Ridgeback, it was the worst feeling I've ever had. But feed her a big meal, love her, and realize that you made an actual difference in somebodies life.

Thank you. Last night she was just lying around and wouldn't eat. Today she's moving around some, and she's eating. So we're just gonna see how she's acting in tbe next few days.

Does anyone know the story behind this picture? I'm hoping there isn't one, just someone lovin' on their pup...but I gotta know. So sorry to hear that nerdsarecool, I will tell you from personal experience, the passing of a pet will burn into your soul for life. After some of the pain fades, you will remember good times, later that become the bigger part of your memories. It's the reason I became vegetarian. I think we could have that connection with almost any animal if given the opportunity. You saved the dog's life once, sadly you can't always do that more than the one time.

Thanks you. The last time I had to put down a dog was in the 5th grade. It was hard moving on, but I eventually did. And I know that once she passes on, it'll be hard but it'll get better as time goes by.
