This might work but a lot of patents don't tell their kids about Santa.

Here is how I explained it all to my 6yr old daughter. "There are some girls that love boys, some that love girls, and some that love both. There are some boys love girls, some love boys, and some love both. And just like you like to dress up like a princess some boys like to dress up like princesses. And some girls like to dress up like princes. And then some people sometimes don't feel right that they were born boys or girls so they live like a girl when they are boys and a boy when they are girls." Then I asked her if she didn't understand any of what I said. And she said exactly this. "Wait you said that they don't make princess dresses for grown ups." ( I told her that because she wanted me to wear one on Halloween lol)

It didn't need to be explained to me, I didn't even know it was an issue until 6th grade when we started doing current events.
