I'm only 14, my mind seems to have a 16/17 year old setting. I totally agree, I mean we're all called the doomed generation etc. Who influenced us to act this way? Answer is simple= ADULTS!!!!! I'm done being criticized by adults being told that our generation is the downfall of the human race, granted many of us are stupid but that brings us back to my previous statement on who influenced us to be this way. All you adults mended and created things and we just got a hold of them, you still mend and create things that we get a hold of? Don't blame us saying WE took it too far? Saying that WE were the ones who stuffed it up in the first place? WE were the ones that were influenced to do so, WE were the ones that were told to act like that and be who we are.
Were you told to blather on about it all over the net? At least the post in the times had a little class and a lot less repetition. Yours sounded like it should have a "vote durell" slogan at the end of it.
Smart kid.
Can't wait 'til he realizes that he and their circle of friends aren't representative of society at large. Not to mention that my generation isn't the first to screw over the next. That's just human nature, and I firmly believe this is never going to change. Certainly not in time for him to be able to say his generation was any different.
"Angry we'll have to clean up your mess..." from the generation that has to be driven everywhere. Every generation tried to improve over the previous one; apparently this straight-A student thinks war, pollution and poverty were created by the two generations immediately before. But hey--maybe a campaign of Facebook Likes and #SaveOurPlanet tweets will be effective.
Everyone has potential to fail or succeed, it just so happens that some people take it for granted. Every generation has had some success and some failure , the point is though to not generalize by generation. We as human beings should ALL be working for the goal of improvement, not just wasting time and resources on blaming one another. The letter did have some very good points though, teenagers are human beings too, and who knows, young minds are becoming more and more vital to society, and that we all learn from the world around us. Especially as teenagers, when we have the most learning to do. We learn from what older generations do, so set a good example ! All we learned, we learned from you , so should we do as you say but not as you do ?
